Overview

Interferential Therapy

Interferential therapy (IFT) is a type of electrotherapy that uses two medium-frequency electrical currents to produce a low-frequency current at the treatment site. The low-frequency current stimulates nerves and muscles, which can help to reduce pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms. IFT is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Muscle pain
  • Joint pain
  • Nerve pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Post-surgical pain
  • Sports injuries

IFT is generally safe for most people. However, it is important to talk to your doctor before using IFT if you have any health conditions, such as:

  • Heart problems
  • Epilepsy
  • Pacemaker
  • Metal implants

IFT is a non-invasive treatment that is typically painless.
